Over the years, from time to time, I dipped into it but had never read it carefully, contemplatively. The author of the Cloud is unknown, but the style reveals a lively and vigorous mind, possessing a shrewd knowledge of human nature and a strong sense of humour. The book can be read straight through in one or two sessions, and then taken daily over the period of one or two months for which it.

The Cloud of Unknowing (Middle English: The Cloude of Unknowing) is an anonymous work of Christian mysticism written in Middle English in the latter half of the 14th century.
